Lost & Found

These are items that have been found inside books. Some were left there intentionally. Others may have arrived on their own.

• One (1) pressed violet with an illegible note: “Return before solstice.”
• A faded grocery receipt with the words “Not yogurt. Never yogurt.” circled three times.
• A button with no matching coat.
• A fortune cookie slip: “You already know the ending.”
• Dog hair. Possibly Labrador-derived. Still warm.
• A key labeled “Chapter 12.” No one knows what it unlocks.
• A dollar bill folded into a tiny paper boat. Sailed across margin notes.
• A feather and a tooth. (Filed under “ambiguous.”)
• A page from a different book entirely. No one’s been able to identify the source.
• A single Polaroid of a garden at night. All faces turned away.

If you’ve found something unusual in a book, please report it to the nearest librarian, cryptographer, or bookstore employee who seems emotionally available.
