Lost & Found
These are items that have been found inside books. Some were left there intentionally. Others may have arrived on their own.
- One (1) pressed violet with an illegible note: “Return before solstice.”
- A faded grocery receipt with the words “Not yogurt. Never yogurt.” circled three times.
- A button with no matching coat.
- A fortune cookie slip: “You already know the ending.”
- Dog hair. Possibly Labrador-derived. Still warm.
- A key labeled “Chapter 12.” No one knows what it unlocks.
- A dollar bill folded into a tiny paper boat. Sailed across margin notes.
- A feather and a tooth. (Filed under “ambiguous.”)
- A page from a different book entirely. No one’s been able to identify the source.
- A single Polaroid of a garden at night. All faces turned away.
If you’ve found something unusual in a book, please report it to the nearest librarian, cryptographer, or bookstore employee who seems emotionally available.
